Dr. Patel completed his PhD on novel therapies for prostate cancer. He was graduated from the University of NSW in 1991. He undertook his residency and general surgery training at the Royal North Shore Hospital. He then completed a Masters of Medicine (USYD) in cell biology and protein biochemistry followed by his FRACS in Urology. Following Urology training, Dr. Patel completed an Uro- Oncology Fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York. Currently he is an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney. Dr. Patel has a special interest in the management of prostate cancer. He is a member of the national prostate cancer trials sub-committee (ANZUP), director of the Urological Cancer Outcomes Centre at Westmead Hospital. He has written a number of books and book chapters related to prostate cancer management and authored over 70 peer reviewed journal articles.

Dr. Mordechai Saeid Nosrati is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine at Keck-USC School of Medicine in Los Angeles, CA. and Medical Director of the CKD program and the Renal, Hypertension and Transplant Clinic at the LAC+USC. He joined the Keck-USC School of Medicine in Los Angeles, CA in 1992 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. Dr. Nosrati attended medical school at the State University of New York in Brooklyn (1983-1987). After completing an internship and residency program at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine, Bronx, NY,(1987-2000), Dr. Nosrati was awarded a nephrology fellowship at Beth Israel Hospital/ Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, After completing his fellowship. Dr. Nosrati has also served as Medical Director of the Peritoneal Dialysis Program and Home Hemodialysis Program at the USC Dialysis Center and has been an attending physician at the CAPD Clinic, USC Outpatient Dialysis, Medicine Ward and Renal Ward at the LAC+USC Medical Center. Dr. Nosrati is actively involved in a number of bench research as well as clinical research activities spanning different fields.

Dr. Mordechai Saeid Nosrati is actively conducting research in advancing kidney dialysis, liver dialysis and providing a support system for the MOF/MODS multisystem failures using advanced technologies. In addition he has been actively conducting major pharmaceutical sponsored phase II-IV clinical trials in hypertension, anemia, iron, secondary hyperparathyroidism etc.

Dr. Bhupesh Panwar is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He is a board certified nephrologist and a clinical researcher at UAB. Dr. Panwar completed his MBBS from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, India (07/1999 - 12/2004). He obtained his MD from Harbor Hospital, Baltimore (06/2007 - 06/2010). His long-term goal is to focus on patient-oriented research in chronic kidney disease (CKD). The focus of his research is on etiologic factors underlying disturbances of iron metabolism in CKD. This focus grew out of the increasing recognition that abnormalities of iron and mineral metabolism are highly prevalent among individuals with CKD. Recent evidence suggests that vitamin D can enhance iron bioavailability in healthy volunteers but this effect has not been adequately studied in individuals with CKD.

Novel regulators of iron homeostasis - hepcidin C and hemojuvelin; Relationship between obesity and metabolic health and their joint and individual effects on the development of kidney disease; Link between markers of mineral metabolism such as vitamin D and FGF-23 levels and cardiovascular morbidity especially stroke.
